February 2023 – Please note that the IAQAA committee acknowledge that the information presented in this document may be subject to revision as new research becomes available, and a working group will be established to periodically update the content – coming soon June 2023

07/09/2020 – The Draft was updated to reflect the updated ATP thresholds for Kikkoman meters, and the early contribution of reviewer Dr Wesley Black and issued as a Final document in agreement with the IAQAA Committee.

06/05/20 – The new Draft Reference and Guidelines have been completed – Thanks to all those who provided feedback. Everybody’s feedback has been included. There are some substantial changes to the thresholds for ATP, and more flexibility to include other built structures, and buildings with non-infected people and item-specific thresholds.

10/4/20 – The document was revised to clarify that the publication was prepared by and owned solely by the Indoor Air Quality Association Australia who takes sole responsibility for its content. We welcome ongoing feedback from individuals and organisations on its content.

SARS-CoV-2 is a very dangerous coronavirus that has become infectious to humans. COVID-19 has a sufficiently low mortality rate, and a silent start to infection symptoms, promoting its spread by even non-symptomatic persons to our most vulnerable. Its evolution from animal hosts has led to a pandemic and a new era of global infection control. These guidelines are designed to provide information and assurance to workers, those they come in contact with, and those returning to a building where an infected person was present. I deeply thank the members of IAQA Australia for their amazing contributions to the IAQ industry through these Guidelines and hope the publication is useful for the many people involved in the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Claire Bird – President IAQAA 2020
